Outlining "Partner" by V.P Kale

"Partner" shouldn't be defined as a classic novel alone but also a pensive reflection of reality. Being a neophyte into the prosperous universe of marathi literature,  my eyes were  pitched upon Partner cause of its worshiping and  popularity  among marathi readers. It was published in 1976 by Mehta Publishing House.  It is considered to be a gem belonging to V.P kale's rich literary treasure.

Synopsis
On a striking voyage of around 160 pages , this books trips us to various stages of life. The book revolves around the life of shri who as growing up is deprived of parental affection and support . He often faces instances of bias and hate cause of his premature brother who on the other side was pampered and adored by his mother. Battling with his family's injustice, he seeks mental and financial backing in the sheltering arms of "Partner". Across the diverse chapters of his life , his companion "Partner " guides him, consoles him and imparts essential philosophical lessons akin to lord krishna and Arujna in Mahabharata. Amidst his struggles,  shri ends up falling in love with a girl and clearly express his feelings and his fiscal position to her and her parents. However, the girl accepts him, and later they finally tie the knot. Then the book exposes few dreadful scenarios that a married man usually face and gradually becomes lonely providing solace to his mother and wife at the same time. In this situation,  shri's drowning life resorts to the shore i.e "Partner ". The ending of the novel is  profoundly  harrowing and  underlines the basal need of a trustworthy friend for robust survival of the human spirit !

Literary depth
The book narrates in an impressive  straightforward language with minimal use of intricate Marathi vocabulary clutching up the begginners . Morever, application of english for few  spontaneous  lines and some cold quotes added a distinctive touch to overall  reading experience. However, while some may debate against the use of certain abusive terms and slang, they can be seen as fitting within the context of storytelling.  Insightful symbolism and folklore references were the icing on the cake.
